The site seems to hosted by Ecommerce, Inc. in the USA and I have emailed them to make them aware of the situation. Not sure if anything will come of it.
In the time of my joining the Facebook group and writing the comment somebody else also left a comment regarding this, so it’s not just me.
I just tried to get into the MDC web site and FireFox 3 popped up with this message:
and when you click on the "Why was this site blocked" button it takes you to the Google page seen here.
I’m purposefully not including the link to the MDC web site here because one of the 7 or 8 readers of my blog may bypass the warning and get infected.
I’d tried to access the site from the Morgan Tsvangirai group on Facebook so returned to the group to look for an email address. I found the info@mdc.co.zw address and tried to write to it and alert them of the situation, but the email bounced back with a "user does not exist" message from gmail. Either the Facebook group and supplied information is bogus or the MDC online identity has been compromised.
I’m going to have to dig deeper and see if I can get to the bottom of this and somehow alert the MDC of the situation. I may actually have to break a self imposed ban of joining anything on Facebook just so that I can alert the admin person of the group of the situation.
I’ll update here when, and if, there is something more to report. I love a bit of cyber intrigue.
