I never walk alone

leave a comment

I’m sick in bed with flu, seems to have been a winter for it this year. This is the first time that I’m actually in bed though. I feel as guilty as all hell as I have a ton of work to do, but fuckit it feels good. Even though I’m laying here reading I’m still not resting, I have laptop, cell and landline around me. Skype is open, as is both mail clients and two instances of Google Wave. There is a SSH session to the new FormFunction hosting server as I’ve just deployed a site and I’m keeping tabs on the match between India and Australia which may be a non-event due to a cyclone forming over the Arabian Sea near Mumbai.

Habibti is buying is a new coffee machine as our old has just lost too many pieces along the way. Can’t wait to see what she gets.

The one thing that is making me feel like I’m really sick is the fact that both the cats are snuggling up to me which is pretty cool, except for the fact that Annie moans every time I as much as try and sneak a piece of fudge never mind move or even try get comfortable.

In the photo below I have Charlie (Chasie) on my right and Annie between my feet.

Lazy Sunday

leave a comment

Habibti is busy doing a course and I’m pottering around the house. I decided to re-install my desktop computer with Windows 7 and basic software while I watch some cricket. There are two great matches on. We are playing England and Sri Lanka are playing New Zealand. Bloody remote wont reach the TV from the dining room table. Computers are on the table as we are having a kiff wall unit built in the spare room for books and things like that. I end up on the couch every few minutes when things look excited on the TV, or just to have a cup of tea while I watch a bit of one of the matches.

Annie is laying in front of me sleeping and has worked her way into the blanket that I use in the evenings while I veg on the couch. This is what she looks like ….

She moans non stop every time I move. Habibti just got home and it’s starting to rain. Life is bliss.

ICC Champions Trophy

leave a comment

The list below is redundant so I need to post something just to move it down a bit. I’m enjoying the ICC Champions Trophy. We got klapped in the first match by Sri Lanka. Makes things interesting as England beat Sri Lanka. England was seen as the weak team in our group. This is what makes cricket such a interesting sport. You can never take anything fir granted.

There seems to be a lot of debate around the long term viability of the 50 over form of the game. I think they should do what Rugby does. There should be two teams, one that plays 50 over and Test cricket and those that specialise in 20/20. Much like Rugby Sevens. Just my thoughts.

We have bought season tickets for Newlands. Very indulgent but should be fun. Some nice matches coming up over the next year, and we can double date with Rudy and Lulu. How romantic is that?

This weekend is going to rock.

leave a comment

This weekend is gearing up to be a humdinger. All kinds of geek fun to be had by me. List of things that I will be doing this weekend are:

  • Installing WordPress 2.8.4 on all the sites that I manage.
  • Playing with Windows 7 on my desktop.
  • Install Ubuntu 9.04 on my laptop to dual boot with Vista.  (Done. Now to customise. Next weekend)
  • Play me some Company of Heroes. (Done, but by no means dusted)
  • Watching the the final Ashes test.
  • Watching the Curry Cup and Tri-Nations rugby (All Blacks have won. Great game, but Aus should have won to make things easier for us)
  • Finalising the FormFunction server at Hetzner DE.
  • Spending time with Habibti
  • Visiting the best people on the world (maybe).
  • Watching District 9 (Seems I have to wait another week for this)
  • Launching a large project and starting a new one for my current employer.
  • Planning life after next Tuesday.
  • Plan what’s next for this site.

The good news is that most, if not all, of this starts now. My time couldn’t more full if I tried.
