There’s just not enough time in a day.

Ubuntu 9.10 is out in 6 days. I’ve got my Google Wave account. Windows 7 was released yesterday (I’ve been using the RTM version for a few months now though). WordPress 2.8.5 is out. ActiveCollab needs upgrading. ISPConfig 3.0.1.6 is out. The list just goes on and on and on.

Man, all this to learn, do, poke, play, test, upgrade and think about. And non of it makes me any money, when did being busy become so unproductive?

WordPress 2.8 Release Candidate 1 is out

leave a comment

Seems the only real thing I’m using this space for the last while is to test out new releases of WordPress in a live environment and to write a bit about it. This post is no different. I’ve just installed “WordPress 2.8 Release Candidate 1” here to have a look at it and to play. Playing is yet to happen as I don’t have the time right now, but everything seems to be working.

Once final release is available I’ll install, test and decide whether I must upgrade all the sites that I have running off WordPress.

Cursory glance at admin interface impressed me. I will post more at a later stage.

If you’re interested in WordPress 2.8 RC1 then have a look here for your own copy. Final will be released on Wednesday the 10th so wait a few days before you upgrade, or ask your service provider to do it for you. You/they will have to make sure all the plugins you are using work in 2.8 and also that your Theme works the way it should.

I’m a sucker for bleeding edge technology.

3rd Test: South Africa v Australia at Cape Town, Mar 19-23, 2009

And we’re almost off. Once again Australia won the toss and will bat first. I’ve moved my computer into the dinning room and can see the TV over the top of my monitor. I really need to get a laptop. Coffee is brewing. Weather is coolish and the fires seem to be under control.

Wrapping up a few projects and will also start looking at Robert Hobbs’s site. I always seem to be more productive when there is cricket on. When did I become this sports guy?

And we’re off. Australia won the toss and will bat first. I’ve moved my computer to the dining room and I can see the TV screen over the top of my monitor. When did I become this sport nerd? I blame Habibti.

I’m working on three projects at one, which is cool. The year started off pretty kak, but I think my new model will work well. I need three projects a month and we should be fine.

So, cricket and rugby and designing and coding and a photography project, what could be better?

… and things are fixed again

I’ve just upgraded this site and Megan’s Head to WordPress 2.7.1 and upgraded all the plugins that were (had to lookup where or were again!!) out of date. Now I need to have a look at Conspiracy of Clowns and Hearts and Eyes to make sure they are 100% up-to-date.

Habibti left for Jhb this morning and will be home tomorrow evening. I hate it when she’s gone.

I’ve got cricket on the TV (here and here) to keep me company while I get all geeky. Animals are all dozing around the house and the wind has sort of died down so things are peaceful.
